You know that period in life where you are so proud of the amount of alcohol you’ve drank that you want everyone to look onto it with awe? If it wasn’t you, you’ve probably known someone who did. They had an army of empty liquor bottles lined up on the top of their kitchen cabinets. Maybe they had a display of beer bottles showing all the different kinds they’ve had. Or in extreme cases of vanity they posted it online for everyone to see…wait…what? Well if you were that person, you can now take that amateurish display to the next level.
Glassware made from recycled bottles. That’s right, BottleHood is making tumblers, juice glasses, and more from bottles of beer, liquor, etc. “Glass Goods From Your Neighborhood” is their catchphrase. In fact they call the process upcycling. I’m partial to the glasses made out of beer bottle of course but some of the things they’ve made out of liquor bottles look fantastic. The candles are probably the most impressive.
Truly a green company these San Diego residents work with bottles that have no CRV or California Redemption Value. Apparently if you can’t turn it in for change in California, people just throw it away. So they turn these bottles into amazing glassware and keep them from ending up in a landfill somewhere. So not only can you impress your friends with stylish barware, you’re doing something good for the environment.
Go over to http://www.etsy.com/shop/bottlehood and check out the site. I stumbled across BottleHood just the other day, so I haven’t had the chance to order anything from them yet. That will be changing soon though, I just haven't figured out which one I want yet. The only disappointing thing is that all of my favorite beers use labels so they can’t be turned into the cool things found on this site. I really would have dug some Session glasses like the Red Stripe ones, oh well.
